Bei der Ausstellung IRL zeigen die in Irland leben Künstler*innen Cecilia Bullo, Amanda Doran und George Warren, wie sich die neue Realität der letzten Anderthalbjahre in ihrer Kunst widerspiegelt.

In the IRL exhibition, the Irish artists Cecilia Bullo, Amanda Doran and George Warren show how the new reality of the last year and a half is reflected in their art.

Cecilia Bullo

Im Fokus ihrer Werke stehen verschiedene Symbole und Objekte (z.B. Amulette oder Relikte), die in einen Kontext sozialer Fragen gestellt werden. Die Gegenstände werden mit Heilungskraft oder magischen Eigenschaften assoziiert und vor allem in einem feministisch-politischen Zusammenhang gelesen. Bullo interessiert sich für die Opferrolle der Frau und ihren politischen Körper, sowohl in der Mythologie als auch in der Gegenwart.

Her works focus on various symbols and apotropaic objects (e.g. amulets or relics) that are placed in a context of social questions. The objects are associated with healing powers or magical properties and, above all, read in a feminist-political context. Bullo is interested in the survivors‘ role of women and their political body, both in mythology and in the present.

Amanda Doran

Amanda Dorans beschäftigt sich mit ihrer täglichen Umgebung und ihren Begegnungen. In den letzten Aderhalbjahren hat sich ihr Fokus jedoch gewandelt, von gewohnheitsmäßigen Ritualen, Exzentrizitäten und Macken zu Unbehagen, Tod und Wiedergeburt. Sie sieht die Themen als kathartisches Ventil, das die Besonderheiten und Unvorhersehbarkeiten der letzten Zeit anspricht.

Amanda Doran deals with her daily environment and her encounters. In the last half years, however, her focus has shifted, from habitual rituals, eccentricities and quirks to discomfort, death and rebirth. She sees the issues as a cathartic outlet that addresses the peculiarities and unpredictability of recent times.

George Warren

Intuitives Malen, das von innen heraus komm, ist die Vorgehensweise von George Warren. Ein grober Plan hilft dem Künstler, jedes Zögern zu überwinden und mit einem schnellen und schwungvollen Farbauftrag ein Gemälde zu malen. Seine Werke befinden sich zwischen Figuration und Abstraktion.

Intuitive painting that comes from within is the approach of George Warren. A rough plan helps the artist to overcome any hesitation and to paint a painting with a quick and lively application of paint. His works are somewhere between figuration and abstraction.
